The SBDC offers one-on-one business consulting at no cost to you. SBDC counselors have significant experience in the private sector, and many have extensive management and financial consulting backgrounds. Through their experience, SBDC counselors can offer individual advice and guidance concerning the formation, management, financing and operation of your business. Counseling is provided at no charge to qualified businesses (the business must have less than 500 employees). Individuals who are considering starting a business are also eligible for counseling. The Kern Economic Journal is a quarterly publication (February, May, August, and November). Its purpose is to track and analyze economic trends that affect the well-being of Kern County. In doing so, the journal provides primary data on consumer confidence and business outlook as well as secondary data on a wide range of economic indicators. The prime objective of the EAC is to establish a vehicle for stakeholder-school communication as a forum for the presentation and discussion of mutual concerns. This active partnership shall address the needs of both communities and make constructive recommendations for the improvement of student education. The business, industry and public sector members provide guidance, technical expertise, and support for the continued advancement of the programs of the BPA. The academic members serve as consultants to our stakeholders; staff the educational programs; and provide the means for evaluating, implementing, and assessing the recommendations of the council members.
Representing more than 43,000 graduates, the CSUB Alumni Association awards student scholarships, hosts annual programs like Party in the Park and the Alumni Hall of Fame, supports campus and community events, and keeps graduates up to date on University news and events.
Each year, the John Brock Committee, which is comprised of members of the Executive Advisory Council of CSUB's School of Business and Public Administration, selects an individual to receive the prestigious John Brock Community Service Award. Enterprise College is a three-week summer program in economics. Through a CSUB and Kern High School District partnership, the program is is offered to incoming high school seniors. Coordinated and hosted by the School of Business and Public Administration and promoted by KHSD, the program teaches students the principles of economics with application to social issues. They also learn the essentials of leadership within the economic environment.
